FROM WISHFUL THINKING TO JOYFUL ACTION: THE PSYCHOLOGY OF POSITIVE CHANGE

Seminar

Dublin, Ireland

Sunday September 30th 2007

By
Mario E. Martinez, Psy.D.

Our wishes are granted at the speed of our beliefs and the strength of our actions . By not understanding that universal principle, we either engage in wishful intention without productive action or we postpone our joy until a future that never materializes. In this seminar participants will learn how to break from the cultural trance that robs our serenity and feeds our fears.

  • Learn how low self-worthiness sabotages positive change
  • Understand how wishful thinking without joyful action leads to disappointment and helplessness
  • Learn how to rescue joy from the future and how to live it in the present
  • Learn how empowerment and helplessness affect your immune system
  • Understand why positive change is feared more than “comfortable misery”
  • Learn how to access and apply the tools for positive change

Dr. Martinez is a clinical psychologist who lectures worldwide on his theory of Biocognition (how cultural beliefs affect the immune system and longevity) and on his concept of relationships called Guardians of the Heart . He specializes in psychoneuroimmunology and has published numerous professional articles on Biocognition. In his new psychological novel The Man from Autumn , he explores how modern cognitive science and the contemplative methods of Eastern/Western mystical theologies can converge to understand the mystery of stigmata and the psycho-spiritual conflicts that contribute to psychiatric and autoimmune disorders. Dr. Martinez has investigated cases of alleged stigmata for the Catholic Church, the BBC and National Geographic.
