FORGIVING THE PAST AND RESCUING JOY FROM THE FUTURE: A PSYCHOLOGY OF WELLNESS

Mario E. Martinez, Psy.D.

Before we can truly experience the abundance of wellness, we must identify how much unresolved negativity we carry from the past, and how we postpone our “ideal life” for a distant future. Our cultural beliefs promote adjusting to our present misery rather than questioning the mind-body-spirit price we pay for delaying our joy. In this workshop, participants will learn how to gain freedom from a past that demeans our worthiness, and how to embrace our now with the rewarding life we postpone for the future.

Dr. Martinez is a clinical psychologist who lectures worldwide on his theory of Biocognition (how cultural beliefs affect the immune system and longevity) and on his new concept of relationships. He specializes in psychoneuroimmunology and has published numerous professional articles on biocognition. In his new psychological novel The Man from Autumn, he explores how modern cognitive science and Christian mystical theology can converge to address stigmata and psycho-spiritual conflicts that mimic psychiatric disorders. Dr. Martinez has investigated cases of alleged stigmata for the Catholic Church, the BBC and National Geographic.
